What assessment has the Minister made of the impact of Transport for Wales's decision to run 1 car class 153 unit on the Gloucester to Cardiff routes on overcrowding?

Answered by Deputy Minister for Climate Change | Answered on 23/05/2023

Transport for Wales do not plan to operate one-carriage trains on the route between Cardiff and Gloucester. However, services were heavily disrupted by the lineside fire on the South Wales main line between Cardiff and Newport. This disruption resulted in rolling stock and train crew being out of position. Transport for Wales had to either cancel this service or to operate it with less capacity than normal.
