What consideration did the Welsh Government give to the impact of ending the scheme to house homeless people in hotels during COVID?

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic we have taken a ‘no-one left out’ approach to homelessness, supporting over 33,600 people with temporary accommodation since then, and this approach continues to be in place today.

The Priority Need Regulations, passed by the Senedd on 18 October 2022, introduced an 11th category of priority need of ‘street homelessness’. Unlike in England, this ensures we can maintain the ‘no-one left out’ approach ahead of wider scale legislative reform so that no-one is forced to sleep rough in Wales.
