What funding has been allocated for additional learning needs within home education?

Answered by Minister for Education and the Welsh Language | Answered on 15/05/2023

Local authorities are expected to manage their own budgets and determine how best to use their resources to fulfil their duties to support all learners, including learners with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) who are home educated.

The Welsh Government provide funding to local authorities mainly through the Local Government Revenue Settlement in the form of the Revenue Support Grant (RSG). It is then up the local authority to fund a range of services, including supporting learners with ALN in Elective Home Education. I have also allocated over £9m this financial year to local authorities to increase additional learning provision for their learners.
