What consideration has the Welsh Government given to extending the use of concessionary travel passes along the North Wales Main Line?
Answered by Deputy Minister for Climate Change | Answered on 10/05/2023
Concessionary rail travel was introduced on lines where there are limited bus services and where rail services have the capacity to carry additional passengers. In North Wales this includes:
- Wrexham – Hawarden Bridge
- Machynlleth – Pwllheli (Cambrian Coast line) October to March only
- Llandudno – Blaenau Ffestiniog (Conwy Valley line)
We have no plans to extend the concessionary rail pass beyond the current areas of eligibility.
