What assessment has the Welsh Government made of the impact on Welsh sports of World Athletics' decision to ensure women's sport is for biological females only?

Answered by Deputy Minister for Arts and Sport, and Chief Whip | Answered on 31/03/2023

Sport should be for everyone, and our position concerning inclusion in sport remains clear: LGBTQ+ rights, including trans rights, are human rights. All sports should be a place where everyone can take part and where everyone is treated with kindness, dignity and respect. As such, our preferred position is to follow a case-by-case approach, rather than a blanket exclusion of transgender athletes and those with differences in sex development.

Additionally, the five UK Sports Councils worked together to develop guidance, published in September 2021, to support the inclusion of transgender people in domestic sport.
