What action is the Welsh Government taking to support the transition to electric vehicles, particularly in urban settings where on street parking is not possible?

We are supporting the roll-out of publicly accessible electric vehicle charge-points in line with our EV Charging Strategy and Action Plan.

Through Transport for Wales (TfW), we are building knowledge and plans that will encourage and support local authorities to trial on-street charging solutions and expediate the roll-out of on-street charging across Wales. In partnership, we will trial solutions which are coming to market, in order to improve options for those who don’t have access to home charging. We are particularly keen to ensure that these approaches do not impede accessibility of the footway.

Where on-street parking solutions have not yet been identified, we are supporting local authorities to deploy publicly accessible fast and rapid charging facilities in other locations, such as council owned car parks, providing users with alternatives.
