WQ87295 (e) Tabled on 30/01/2023

Further to WQ87207 and WQ87208, will the Minister outline why the amount allocated to Senedd reform increased by so much and whether or not there is any chance that it will increase further?

Answered by Counsel General and Minister for the Constitution | Answered on 03/02/2023

The budget allocation reflects the scope and timeframe for the preparation and delivery of Senedd Reform legislation, as set out in the Special Purpose Committee’s report on 30 May 2022 and endorsed by the Senedd on 8 June. The budget allocation for 2023-2024 remains under review, however there are currently no plans to increase the budget.

The Welsh Government, in cooperation with Plaid Cymru, has committed to bringing forward legislation to reform the Senedd, within 12 to 18 months of the publication of the final report of the Special Purpose Committee. This work is being carried out in collaboration with Adam Price MS, the Plaid Cymru designated member, as part of the Co-operation Agreement between the Welsh Government and Plaid Cymru.
