What consideration has the Minister given to supporting the creation of two free ports in Wales, one in the north and the other in the south?
Answered by Minister for Economy | Answered on 09/02/2023
The three Freeport Programme in Wales bids which were submitted are now being assessed by officials from both the Welsh and UK government, against the criterion published in the Freeport Programme in Wales Prospectus.
The UK and Welsh governments have committed to delivering one Freeport in Wales. However, both governments remain open to consider designating an additional Freeport in Wales if sufficient exceptional proposals were presented.
As the assessment process is in progress, the Welsh Government is unable to comment on the specific details at this stage.
