What discussions has the Minister had with Caerphilly County Borough Council about registering Ty Llwyd Quarry at Ynysddu as contaminated land?
My officials have spoken with Caerphilly County Borough Council regarding the former Ty Llwyd quarry landfill site. In accordance with Part IIA of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and statutory guidance issued by the Welsh Ministers under that part, the Council have recently commissioned contractors to undertake some preliminary monitoring at the site to inform an assessment of the site’s status. This will include whether the site should be determined as ‘contaminated land’ as defined within the legislation, in addition to identifying whether further works are required as part of the Council’s future management of the site.
