In the light of the fact that the recorded population in the 2021 census of the south-east Wales national growth region was almost 20 per cent lower than the projections on which it was based, when will the Welsh Government formally review Future Wales?
It is important to monitor and review Future Wales in order to assess progress towards the delivery of its policies and outcomes. This will help to ensure Future Wales is successfully implemented over its 20 year plan period and shapes the Wales we wish to see by 2040. The following document provides information on the monitoring and review process of Future Wales:
Future Wales – the national plan 2040 Monitoring and Review
An important part of the monitoring process is contextual evidence which includes a broad range of economic, cultural, environmental and social data. We will assess a wide range of national and regional data on issues such as the economy, environment and population, which will include 2021 Census.
The review of Future Wales will analyse and reflect on the information collected through monitoring in order to determine if Future Wales is delivering on its policies and outcomes and, as a consequence, what is required in response.
