Will the Minister confirm what they are doing to improve solar PV capacity?
Our focus is on removing the barriers to investments in large-scale and rooftop solar on homes and businesses at a smaller scale while protecting people and the environment from unacceptable negative impacts. Our national planning policy provides a very strong framework to support appropriately located renewable energy developments. Permitted development rights apply to the majority of rooftop solar installations.
We are also working to address a key barrier to new installations, grid infrastructure. Here we are co-ordinating strategic action to build the case for new and reinforced grid infrastructure where necessary. We are also supporting local and joint ownership of projects to retain social and economic value within the local host communities.
