Will it be possible to study pharmacy as a degree subject in Bangor in the near future given the establishment of the medical school and the dental academy in the city?

The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) accredits and recognises pharmacy courses in Great Britain.

It is for universities to determine whether or not they wish to provide a pharmacy degree. When a university plans to provide a Masters of Pharmacy (MPharm) degree it must follow GPhC’s accreditation process.  The accreditation process takes a minimum of 7 years to complete however a university may enrol students on a Master of Pharmacy degree course from the third year of the accreditation process.

Bangor University has recently commenced providing a pharmacology degree and we understand they may be considering developing a pharmacy degree programme in due course.
