Will it be possible to study dentistry as a degree subject in Bangor in the near future given that the dental academy has opened there?

In Wales it is only currently possible to obtain a degree in Dentistry at Cardiff University. Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) are responsible developing a workforce plan for dentistry and will continue to assess the available training opportunities, including whether an additional Dental School is necessary.

The North Wales Dental Academy works in conjunction with a network of committed partners; the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, BCUHB Primary Care & Community Academy, Welsh Government, Bangor University, HEIW, All Wales Faculty of Dental Care Professionals (AWFDCP) and dental providers across the Health Board. The aim of the academy is to provide work, training and upskilling opportunities to all dental care professionals at both undergraduate and postgraduate level; this includes provision of training facilities for dental hygienist students training at Bangor University.
