Figures from the School Workforce Annual Census (SWAC) show that a total of 85 teachers with one years’ teaching experience left the profession in academic year 2020-21.

The majority of those who left the profession – 65 teachers (75%) – marked the reason for leaving as “other”. This figure may include people who left due to the end of a short-term or temporary contract.

Ten teachers left to be employed outside of education and 10 teachers left with an unknown destination.
