How is the Welsh Government working with Cardiff Council to rectify erroneous figures in the recently published 2021 census that shows the city’s growth figures have been overestimated, to ensure that any housing plans in the wider Cardiff capital region are met, and no additional green spaces are lost?

The latest Welsh Government projections are part of the evidence base for Local Planning Authorities (LPA) when considering the level of housing in development plans. It is for LPAs to consider the implications of the projections and the relationship to the level of housing they deem to be appropriate. The scale of housing growth is a matter for each LPA to determine, reflecting the issues they have identified.
