What assessment has been made in terms of the economic value of the National Eisteddfod to the Welsh economy?

Answered by Minister for Education and the Welsh Language | Answered on 28/11/2022

The Eisteddfod periodically undertakes an assessment of the economic impact of the festival, and these focus on the benefit to an area during the week of the Eisteddfod.  The last report, published at the time of the Eisteddfod in Cardiff in 2018, shows an economic benefit of £17.5 million to the area during the Eisteddfod week alone.

This is only part of the story, as hundreds of local activities are organised as part of the community project before and after the Eisteddfod, which also have a huge positive economic impact on the area that welcomes the Eisteddfod.
