What assessment has the Welsh Government made of the number of hectares of forest planted on deep peat since 1960?

The Welsh Government does not hold this information. An assessment by NRW in 2020 estimated c.10,000ha of peatland was afforested. Table 2(5) of the National Peatlands Action Programme, 2020-2025 (cyfoethnaturiol.cymru) sets out NPAP actions for afforested peatlands. Restoration is coordinated with Forest Resource Plans.
