What consideration has the Commission given to its options for the Tŷ Hywel building for when the lease expires on the building?

The Ty Hywel lease expires in 2032. The lease includes an automatic right to renew for a further 25 years at expiry.
The Commission has established a Ways of Working programme. This includes a project to consider our accommodation needs for the medium-to-long term in Cardiff Bay, including lease renewal options for Ty Hywel.
To support this project, the Commission has engaged professional property consultants to provide independent, technical advice on the options available for the Ty Hywel lease.
The Commission has also considered additional papers in May and June 2022 in relation to wider strategic options and issues for its accommodation and estate needs to inform the development of this specialist advice.
The Commission expects to receive detailed initial advice from its property consultants during 2023 to enable further consideration of the options available for its office requirements in Cardiff Bay from 2032 onwards, to support the needs and business of the Senedd and Members.
