Will the Minister provide a breakdown, by local authority, of the £20m recently announced to support learners with additional learning needs?
The Welsh Government has given funding to local authorities to enable them to optimise pre-16 learning environments for those with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), to increase accessibility and support learning and pupil wellbeing. The grant has been allocated on a formula basis to reflect both the number of pupils and schools within each local authority area, based on a 70% pupil numbers / 30% number of schools split.
Eligible expenditure includes the following capital costs:
- Upgrading facilities, learning environments, equipment and physical resources
- Purchasing new equipment or physical resources
- Works to improve inclusivity of facilities and learning environments
A breakdown of local authority allocations is provided in Table 1 below.
