Will the Minister provide an update on the progress of the A40 Llanddewi Velfrey to Redstone Cross improvements and their scheduled date of completion?
Work is proceeding on the scheme at different places along its route.
Currently under preparation are works in the Ffynnon Wood area for the construction of the proposed walking, cycling and horse riders’ underpass.
Under construction are two overbridges – LlanfalIteg Bridge and Redstone Road Bridge; three attenuation ponds; works to facilitate the construction of the new trunk road and side road between Penblewin roundabout and Ffynnon Woods and works in the vicinity of the Llanddewi Velfrey west junction to create the northern access.
The vaccination of badgers likely to be impacted by the scheme and the artificial badger setts required for the relocation of the local badger population have been completed.
Further environmental licences are currently under consideration by Natural Resources Wales and are anticipated to be in place shortly. Once aprroved, site clearance activities will be completed.
Archaeology works are mostly complete and an archaeologist has been assigned to the scheme to provide overwatch for the remaining areas of archaeological digs.
Several access tracks to facilitate and maintain access for affected residents have been completed.
The scheduled completion date is spring 2024.
