Will the Minister confirm whether the outcomes of the investigations into 1,619 nosocomial COVID-19 infections will be published and, if so, when?

Answered by Minister for Health and Social Services | Answered on 19/10/2022

As of 31 July, 1,619 Covid-19 nosocomial infection investigations were completed, this number has since risen to 2,311 as of 23 September, the vast majority undertaken following the Welsh Government’s announcement of £4.5 million funding. A relatively small number would have been completed before the additional monies were made available, but we do not hold this data.

Individual investigations will not be published, as data may be identifiable.  All NHS organisations are however required to report their overall progress and their learning to their Board and an interim national learning report will be produced and published by the end of March 2023. At the end of the programme, in 2024, the NHS Wales Delivery Unit (DU) will publish an end of programme national report.
