Does the Government offer any funding schemes like the Child Trust Fund Cymru scheme?

The Child Trust Fund Cymru (CTFC) scheme was withdrawn following the termination of the UK Government Child Trust Fund (CTF) scheme to new entrants in 2011 by the coalition UK Government.

There are currently no schemes similar to the CTFC being provided by the Welsh Government. The Welsh Government, through the Programme for Government, is committed to combating poverty and inequality as a central driver for all that we do as a government including in the early development of our children and young people. This approach is delivering targeted cost-of-living support and universal programmes which put money back in people’s pockets and gives children the best start in life.

The CFTC ran alongside the main UK CTF scheme from autumn 2009 until January 2011, providing an additional top-up for children in Wales as they began primary school. Eligible children (for the top up) were those born between 1 September 2002 and 31 August 2005.
