What is the Minister doing to keep the Wales Air Ambulance base at Welshpool?

Answered by Minister for Health and Social Services | Answered on 06/09/2022

The Wales Air Ambulance charity is an independent organisation, which does not receive any direct funding from Welsh Government.  As such, decisions regarding the best configuration and operation of its services and bases is an operational matter for the Charity and its Board of Trustees.

My officials will shortly be meeting with the Wales Air Ambulance Charity and EMRTS, along with the Emergency Ambulance Services Committee, as the commissioners of EMRTS. They will seek assurance that the proposed changes will improve air ambulance capacity overall and not adversely impact on the timeliness or safety of the service provided to patients in most urgent and acute need.
