What initiatives does the Welsh Government have to encourage more learners with disabilities to take up apprenticeships?

Answered by Minister for Education and the Welsh Language | Answered on 20/09/2022

Employer Incentive Payments have supported employers seeking to employ disabled apprentices during the pandemic. We will review this incentive annually to ensure it continues to support employers and disabled people with the most need to access apprenticeships.

We have refocused and renewed shared apprenticeship programme introduced in August 2022 will enable those at a disadvantage to complete an apprenticeship through supported and hosted employment arrangements.

We continue to prioritise and implement the Inclusive Apprenticeship Disability Action Plan and work in partnership with the network of Disabled People’s Employment Champions, key stakeholders and employers to remove barriers to apprenticeships for disabled people.
