What discussions has the Welsh Government had regarding the impact of the use of the Brofiscin quarry, Groesfaen, for industrial waste by the Monsanto company?

Answered by Minister for Climate Change | Answered on 30/08/2022

Brofiscin Quarry was successfully remediated during 2012/13. This work was overseen by Natural Resources Wales (NRW), which was the regulatory body responsible for securing the site’s remediation following its determination as contaminated land under Part IIA of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council. The Welsh Government liaised closely with NRW and the council throughout the investigation and remediation process, providing both organisations with financial support to enable remediation and mitigation of potential pollution risks.
