What assessment has the Minister made of the 20mph speed limit trial further to Monmouthshire County Council’s announcement that they plan to reverse this after local residents reported that it made traffic worse?

The 20 mph First Phase settlements such as Caldicot in Monmoutshire, were set up to trial implementation processes and strategies in advance of the national rollout. One of the complex processes for highway authorities is to determine where exceptions to the new default speed limit should be made. After consultation with local authorities, we are now providing further detailed implementation guidance.
