Will the Minister outline what consideration has been given to providing financial incentives to farmers to allow sections of disused land to be used as community allotments?

The Welsh Government funds a number of programmes that benefit allotments.

Our Allotment Support Grant is now in its second year and will allocate £750k across all Wales’ local authorities to help improve and increase allotment provision who will use a range of methods and partners in this work.  In addition to this dedicated fund, a range of other programmes, also help support the development of allotments. These include Resilient Green Spaces, a £1.27m partnership project led by Social Farms & Gardens which is piloting alternative re-localised food systems using communities and their green spaces. This programme, funded through the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme and running to June 2023, has a number of streams to promote allotment development and includes engagement with land owners of all kinds including farmers.
