Will the Minister outline what steps are being taken to ensure that health boards have the provision that ensures treatment does not stop when a single consultant is on leave or unavailable for an extended period of time?

Health boards are responsible for planning and delivering NHS services in their areas. Health boards in the course of their planning should take account of when consultants are on leave and when they are unavailable and make alternative arrangements to ensure individuals’ needs are met.
