Will the Minister confirm what number, and percentage of cystic fibrosis patients at both paediatric and adult cystic fibrosis centres across Wales did not receive a management plan discussion at their annual review, broken down by each year since 2015?

Information on the number of people with cystic fibrosis who did not receive a management plan discussion at their annual review is not collected centrally by Welsh Government.

The Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee (WHSSC) is responsible for commissioning cystic fibrosis (CF) care in Wales, with Cardiff and Vale University Health Board providing a service for patients in mid and south Wales. Cystic fibrosis patients in north Wales access services in England.

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board has confirmed that all patients who attended their annual review will have discussed and agreed a management plan which is shared with both them and their GP. Every effort is made to agree a management plan for patients who are unable or fail to attend their annual review either as part of an inpatient stay, outpatient appointment or if they fail to attend multiple appointments it is agreed in their absence and is again shared with their GP.

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board has worked hard to maintain access to cystic fibrosis services over the last two years. During the pandemic a proportion of patients did not attend their annual assessment as they were continuing to shield. However, all patients were regularly contacted.
