What discussions has the Minister had with Transport for Wales regarding overcrowding on the Ruabon - Chester train route?

Answered by Deputy Minister for Climate Change | Answered on 13/07/2022

I am aware there has been some over crowding on a small number of services operated on the route between Ruabon and Chester.

Poor passenger experience is not acceptable. I have asked Transport for Wales to run additional services to support major events and seek to best allocate rolling stock capacity to the busiest services across the Wales and Borders network.

The long term solution to over crowding is increased capacity. We are working hard to deliver this through new trains and increased services in our timetables. New trains are being built and will be introduced in North Wales later this year followed by a further roll out across the Wales and Borders network.
