Will the Minister provide details on the measures being taken in light of the travel issues caused by large events in Cardiff?
We undertake careful planning with a range of partners ahead of any major events taking place in Cardiff, or any other part of Wales. A post-event debrief takes place to enable partners, including Transport for Wales to review the experience and agree what further actions may need to be taken for the planning of future events.
The transport network successfully carried thousands of passengers to and from the venues over the weekend in question. However, we recognise the passenger experience was poor and many people were unable to complete their journeys in the time they had reasonably expected them to take. The debrief identified a number of actions to improve services for forthcoming events. This resulted in a much more positive experience for passengers travelling to the recent Stereophonics and Tom Jones Concerts. Whilst the rail network was very busy there was sufficient capacity, and most passengers were able to travel without any problems.
