What assessment has the Minister made of the Buy Local, Buy Social project?
Funding of £70k was awarded in December to Cwmpas to work in partnership with Development Trust Association (DTA) to promote and support the strengthening of local economies by working with local authorities, health boards and other public bodies to commission and to procure locally within the social enterprise supply chain.
Social enterprises are integral to our plans to nurture the Foundational Economy and are positioned to support our ambition of growing the economy based on wellbeing principles, including fair work and support better jobs closer to home.
Officials are in regular contact to monitor the project with Cwmpas and DTA. Good progress is being made and engagement with large scale anchor organisations and public service board members is being undertaken to introduce the Buy Local Buy Social Programme concept.
A full assessment of the project will be undertaken in April 2023.
