When does the Minister intend to publish an updated Cancer Delivery Plan?
The Welsh Government does not intend to publish an updated Cancer Delivery Plan for Wales. The Cancer Delivery Plan for Wales was refreshed in 2017 and came to an end in December 2020. The Welsh Government’s policy intent for the remainder of the Parliament regarding cancer services has been set out in a Quality Statement for Cancer in March 2021. There are also important actions related to cancer recovery in the Programme for Transforming and Modernising Planned Care Services, published in April 2022.
Health boards, trusts, special health authorities and the Wales Cancer Network are responding to this policy intent through their respective Integrated Medium-Term Plans (IMTPs). In order to achieve greater synergy and clarity around the development of cancer services, I have asked the Wales Cancer Network to bring this planning intent together into one NHS Cancer Services Action Plan. I expect to receive a draft plan for consideration in quarter two of 2022-23.
