What discussions has the Welsh Government had with Aneurin Bevan University Health Board over its decision to stop administering COVID-19 vaccinations at GP surgeries in the Monmouth constituency?

The delivery of the COVID-19 vaccination programme is the responsibility of local health boards in Wales, which have bespoke deployment plans depending on population need and capacity. As such, decisions on how vaccines are deployed are taken at a local level, based on suitable premises being available, workforce, vaccine supply, and population cohorts eligible for vaccination.

The Spring Booster programme is being delivered by the health board through a combination of Mass Vaccination Centres, mobile teams, and pop-up community clinics, making use of the available resources whilst minimising disruption and displacement of other health services.

Residents living in Monmouth are invited to attend mass vaccination centres at Pontypool or Newport.  Pop-up clinics have been organised in communities in Monmouthshire and further are being planned as the Spring Booster programme progresses.

The health board has also worked closely with its local authorities to identify community transport links to support residents to access their COVID-19 vaccination. If patients contact the Mass Vaccination Booking Centre, advice is provided regarding community transport in that area.
