What action is the Welsh Government taking to support rural businesses that are disproportionately affected by recent energy price increases?

I am conscious that rising energy prices are causing a very worrying time for not only families but for businesses across Wales also. Despite the lack of support and leadership from the UK Government, we are doing all we can within our delegated powers, to deliver for the most vulnerable - by further increasing support to low income households we are indirectly helping businesses by maintaining spending power.

We continue to call on the UK Government to introduce a windfall tax on the excess profits being enjoyed by gas and oil producers. Ending reliance on fossil fuels and a quicker transition to renewable energy and better energy efficiency – through a just transition – will have a significant impact on reducing energy costs across the world.

I urge any business needing support to get in touch with Business Wales and their resource efficiency advisers, in the first instance.
