What assessment has the Welsh Government made of the potential to re-open accident and emergency services at either the Royal Gwent Hospital or Nevill Hall Hospital to reduce current pressures on services at the Grange University Hospital?

It is the operational responsibility of Aneurin Bevan University Health Board to plan how services will be delivered to meet the needs of their community.

The Grange University Hospital provides specialist services for the most seriously ill patients and those with significant injuries within the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board area.  For patients with less serious conditions, Nevill Hall and Royal Gwent continue to deliver a range of urgent care services including co-located Urgent Primary Care Centres to support people with urgent care complaints, and Minor Injuries Units (MIUs) - which are open 24 hours a day seven days a week - as well as medical assessment units, diagnostics and fracture clinics.  The majority of these services are also available at Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr.
