What method does the Welsh Government use to collate information on the total tonnage of vegetables grown in Wales?
The Welsh Government does not collate information on the total tonnage of vegetables grown in Wales on a regular basis. The Survey of Agriculture and Horticulture carried out each June[1] includes information on land use in Wales, so allowing data to be made available regarding the number of hectares given over to different types of horticulture in Wales. Additionally data on tonnage may be collected on an ad-hoc basis directly from stakeholders or be included in reports from external organisations, such as the Welsh Fruit and Veg Production Baseline Study published by Tyfu Cymru in 2020.[2]
