Will the Minister confirm whether access to the Health for Health Professional Wales scheme will be available to pharmacists beyond 2023?
Funding has been awarded for a renewed all Wales contract up to 2025 to cover mental health support, which has been awarded to Cardiff University.
Health for Health Professionals Wales (which sits within Cardiff University) will be rebranding the service from April 2022 as Canopi to complement the fact that the service will now offer a whole system approach. Canopi will build on the 10-year success and experience of Health for Health Professionals Wales (HHP Wales) by expanding the organisational scope and delivering high quality, timely, confidential and evidence-based mental health support to the Welsh NHS and social care workforce. Canopi will continue to support pharmacists across all sectors; those working within hospitals, GP practices and in our community pharmacies.
The Canopi service will sit alongside and complement the other existing mental health and wellbeing support services available to the NHS and social care workforce in Wales, particularly providing the opportunity of disclosure to those who feel unable to access employer-based services. In doing so, Canopi will offer an equitable, whole system approach to supporting the NHS and social care workforce, further integrating the health and social care sectors through collaboration, planning and service delivery.
