What engagement has the Minister had with the veterinary profession around the provision of low-cost vet care?
I acknowledge the issues raised in relation to the affordability of veterinary care, and the outstanding work of veterinary professionals in maintaining and enhancing the health and well-being of our animals. Working in partnership is key to the success of our Animal Welfare Plan for Wales and we are grateful for the strong and long-standing relationships with third sector organisations, many of which continue to offer schemes in support of those struggling to balance the requirements of responsible ownership with the associated cost of veterinary care. A discussion paper on the issue of veterinary care support for those on low incomes is in preparation for the Wales Animal Health and Welfare Framework Group, the membership of which includes leading veterinary professionals.
