In relation to the Minister’s announcement on updating earnings thresholds for council tax recovery, what contact has been made with software developers to ensure that the necessary amendments in payroll products can be made in readiness for the April 2022 changes?

I issued a Written Statement on 8 October announcing the launch of the consultation to update earnings thresholds which ended on 31 December 2021.  This was published on the Welsh Government website and circulated to Senedd Members.  In addition, the Welsh Government notified a range of stakeholders including local authorities, sector representative bodies, and relevant professional bodies and associations.  All were asked to pass on the details of the consultation to others who might have an interest.  Amongst others, payadvice.uk and the chartered institute of payroll professionals included details on their websites.  Officials have also engaged with local authorities and other practitioners about the planned changes.

It is the responsibility of individual software providers to ensure they keep abreast of all legislative changes that impact on the delivery of their products.
