Given the UK Government's intention to amend the law to allow claims against developers and builders under the Defective Premises Act from 6 to 30 years and will the Welsh Government be seeking to sue Laing O’Rourke for recovery of Welsh taxpayers' monies paid to repair Aquilla House?

As the Member will be aware, Building Safety forms part of the Co-operation Agreement.

Welsh Government has always made it clear it is the responsibility of the developers to remedy defects in the buildings they built. The UK Government’s intended changes to the Defective Premises Act could create significant opportunity for building owners, homeowners and leaseholders across Wales and England to make a claim for compensation. We await the details of the changes to the Defective Premises Act to fully assess its implications. The Welsh Government has not taken any decisions in relation to taking legal action against relevant developers in Wales.
