Will the Minister clarify whether sport clubs negatively affected by both COVID-19 and flooding might be eligible for support from the extra £4.5 million investment announced for sporting facilities to invest in long-term resilience measures?
The additional £4.5m capital funding for 2021-22 I announced recently will support clubs and organisations who successfully met the criteria set by Sport Wales following an expression of interest exercise.
We are already investing £4m in Sport Wales’ Be Active Wales Fund in 2021-22 to protect and progress community sport clubs and organisations through the Covid-19 pandemic and into the future. There will be further opportunities over the next 3 years for clubs and organisations to apply for capital funding from the £24m we will invest to deliver our Programme for Government commitment to enhance and improve sports facilities in communities across Wales.
