What discussions has the Counsel General had with law officers regarding the recommendations contained in the House of Lords Select Committee on the Constitution report: Respect and Cooperation: Building a Stronger Union for the 21st Century?

Answered by Counsel General and Minister for the Constitution | Answered on 31/01/2022

In Reforming our Union: Shared Governance in the UK, we set out our proposals for strengthening the Union and called for a wider debate. We welcome the contribution made by the House of Lords Select Committee on the Constitution, to which the First Minister gave evidence, particularly the Committee’s belief that a ‘stronger culture of respect, co-operation and partnership’ is required between the UK Government and the other governments of the United Kingdom. We await the UK Government’s response to the report and call upon them to engage constructively in the discussion on how to build a stronger, more prosperous Union.
