How many individuals and families have been resettled in each local authority in Wales through the Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme?
The UK Government launch of the Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme (ACRS) took place on 6 January 2022, 5 months after the mass evacuation from Kabul. As the scheme has only just opened there have not yet been any individuals resettled to Wales through this scheme. We expect to receive eligible families into Wales under this scheme in the coming weeks.
Under the parallel Afghan Relocation and Assistance Policy, approximately 350 Afghan people have been resettled in Wales. To ensure the safety and privacy of families as they settle into life in Wales, the Welsh Government will not be providing local authority-by-local authority data. We expect the Home Office may publish this in due course.
