Will the Minister provide evidence to support the cancelling of parkrun events in Wales?

The Welsh Government has not cancelled parkruns. Coronavirus alert level two restrictions, as set out in our Coronavirus Control Plan, were re-introduced in Wales from 26 December 2021. A range of interventions are included at alert level two designed to reduce the impact of the new and highly contagious Omicron variant.

Although individual exercise and exercise in small groups are allowed at alert level two, mass participation events and organised outdoor activities with more than 50 adult participants are not allowed. We have liaised closely with Welsh Athletics to explore how events can be adapted in line with alert level two restrictions. Junior parkrun is continuing.
