Will the Minister assess the possibility of undertaking a microgrid trial in Wales?

I agree that microgrids are likely to be an important element of a smart local energy system and an opportunity to drive local social and economic benefits. I am pleased to say that we have been actively encouraging such trials in Wales.
As part of our Smart Living programme we have provided support to Blaenau Gwent to develop a type of microgrid on an industrial estate. We are providing support to develop the approach in Bridgend and in Milford Haven. We will continue to look for opportunities to develop new models for local energy systems as we implement the recommendations of the Deep Dive into renewables.
