What discussions has the Minister had with Minister for Economy about enabling the Development Bank for Wales to lend to leaseholders to assist funding fire remediation plans secured against the collateral of leaseholders homes?

In September, I opened Expressions of Interest to building owners/ responsible persons to apply for funding support to carry out essential surveys enabling us to understand the scale of remediation needed across buildings in Wales. Phase two of this package will be to identify the budget requirements to carry out the remediation concerns highlighted by these surveys. Should any of those proposals require support through the Development Bank of Wales, Ministers will agree how that might work and what authority Ministers need to provide.

Leaseholders already have to pay out increased fees and I have been very clear I do not believe leaseholders should have to foot the bill for any remediation costs that have been highlighted as a result of regulation changes made since the Grenfell tragedy.
