Will the Minister be willing to enable the Development Bank of Wales to assist in funding fire remediation plans if secured against the collateral of leaseholders homes?

Answered by Minister for Economy | Answered on 23/12/2021

In September, the Minister for Climate Change opened Expressions of Interest to building owners/ responsible persons to apply for funding support to carry out essential surveys.  These surveys will enable us to understand the scale of remediation needed across buildings in Wales. Phase two of this package will be to identify the budget requirements to carry out the remediation concerns highlighted by these surveys.  Should any of those proposals require support through the Development Bank of Wales, Ministers will agree how that might work and what authority Ministers need to provide.

We do not consider that leaseholders should have to foot the bill for any remediation costs that have been highlighted as a result of regulation changes made since the Grenfell tragedy.
