What discussions has the Minister had with Natural Resources Wales about the future use of the area at Moel Famau planned for tree felling?

I have had no discussions with Natural Resources Wales (NRW) about the planned felling of trees at Moel Famau.

I understand the planned forest management operations at Moel Famau are in response to the pathogen Phyophthora ramorum. The disease was identified on larch at a number of sites in the area through extensive helicopter and ground surveys. To slow the spread of the disease to other areas Statutory Plant Health Notices have been served by NRW, which require the felling/destruction of stands of infected trees. This process has become standard operating procedure when dealing with P.ramorum.

I am aware NRW has started an initial round of public engagement regarding the harvesting operations and is planning further consultations to support restocking at Moel Famau. In addition, the approved forest plan for this area is due to be reviewed next year and subsequently will involve extensive public consultations.
