What action is the Welsh Government taking to improve community fire safety in Wales?

Answered by Deputy Minister for Social Partnership | Answered on 07/12/2021

We provide our three Fire and Rescue Services with annual funding to support delivery of their community fire safety programmes and have allocated almost £1.5 million funding for that purpose, this year.

These programmes focus on preventing dwelling fires and deliberately-set fires, and are all demonstrably successful. Fires have more than halved since responsibility for fire was devolved, and last year dwelling fires in particular fell to another all-time low.  This is testament to the continued excellent efforts of the Fire and Rescue Services to improve fire safety in our communities and reduce the incidence of fire.
